Over the Years
The KXA has been a back bone of the Kamloops Agriculture Community since 1895. In 1939, the Association in conjunction with livestock associations, drew the cancelled Vancouver BC Winter Fair to Kamloops during WWII. The Christmas Fat Stock Show & Sale came into being on December 4, 1939 at the Kamloops Stockyards. The Show then moved to the BC Beef Cattle Growers Yards on Lorne street. The Fat Stock Show & Sale changed its name in 1961 and became the Provincial Winter Fair. The fair then moved locations in 1970 to the Mount Paul Agri-Plex grounds that the KXA and City of Kamloops Partnered with until the early 2000s.
The KXA and the Mount Paul Grounds hosted several types of events including Interior Horse Racing, Rodeos, Kamloops Bull Sale, 4-H District Judging Rally, Concerts, Mud Bogs, Monster Trucks, Mountie Stomp, Hunter Jumper Shows, Home Shows, Craft Fairs, Boat and RV Shows, Dry Grads, Barrel Racing Events, the former 1990's Kamloops Cattle Drive, Spoolmak Days, and much more. The KXA held events on the Mount Paul grounds until 2009 and are continuing to pursue a permanent location for a future Interior Agriculture Complex.
